Amit Shah Announces Triangular Security Framework for India's Chicken Neck

The strategic Siliguri corridor, often referred to as the "Chicken Neck," is a narrow land strip that connects mainland India with its eight northeastern states. Its limited width makes it a potential security chokepoint, prompting the government to reassess defence arrangements in the area.
In a recent statement, Home Minister Amit Shah outlined a plan to create a "triangular security framework" for the region. The framework is expected to integrate the army, paramilitary forces and intelligence agencies in a coordinated manner, aiming to plug any gaps in surveillance and rapid response capabilities.
Officials indicated that detailed blueprints will be drafted in the coming weeks, with implementation to follow a phased schedule. The initiative seeks to bolster deterrence, ensure uninterrupted connectivity, and reassure residents of the northeastern states about their safety.
