Union Home Minister Amit Shah said the recently enacted criminal law reforms will be fully operational across the country within the next twelve months.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah told reporters that the suite of criminal law reforms introduced by the government will be completely rolled out nationwide within a year. He emphasized that the implementation schedule covers all states and Union territories, with mechanisms to monitor progress at the central and local levels.

The minister said the government has already set up a task force to oversee the transition, ensuring that police, judiciary and administrative bodies receive the necessary training and resources. He added that the reforms aim to modernise the penal code, strengthen victim protection and streamline prosecution procedures.

Shah urged state governments to cooperate fully and highlighted that timely implementation will enhance public safety and confidence in the justice system. The announcement comes as part of the broader agenda to overhaul India's criminal justice framework.

The Home Ministry will release periodic updates on the rollout, and officials will address any bottlenecks that arise during the transition period.
