A 26-year-old woman's death by suicide, 45 days after her marriage, has resulted in the arrest of her husband and in-laws following allegations of dowry harassment and abuse.
A 26-year-old woman has died by suicide in Ambernath, just 45 days after her wedding. Her family has accused her husband and in-laws of dowry harassment and cruelty, leading to their arrest.
The grieving family alleges that the deceased was subjected to constant surveillance through CCTV cameras installed in the house, dissatisfaction over wedding gifts, and was allegedly beaten for interacting with neighbours. These alleged actions by her husband and in-laws are believed to have driven her to take her own life.
Ambernath police have registered a case against the arrested individuals under sections pertaining to cruelty and abetment of suicide. Investigations into the matter are currently underway.
