Amazon Ordered Wrong Shoes, Customer Wins Nearly ₹10,000 Refund

A Kerala resident sued Amazon after receiving the wrong pair of shoes and being denied a refund. The court awarded the customer almost ₹10,000 in compensation.

A resident of Kerala had ordered a pair of shoes from Amazon, but the package that arrived contained a different model. When the customer requested a refund, Amazon refused to comply, citing a policy that the wrong item was not eligible for return.

The customer filed a complaint with the consumer court, alleging that the company had delivered a defective product and denied a legitimate refund. The court examined the evidence, including the order details and the correspondence between the buyer and Amazon.

In its judgment, the court ruled in favour of the customer, stating that Amazon had failed to honour its delivery obligations. The court awarded the consumer a compensation of nearly ₹10,000, covering the cost of the shoes and additional damages.

Amazon has not issued a public statement regarding the case, and the company has yet to respond to the court’s decision.
