Transport Minister Harpal Cheema announced that the All India Tourist Permit will now be issued entirely online through the transport portal, aiming to cut red‑tape.
New Delhi – In a recent statement, Transport Minister Harpal Cheema confirmed that the government has shifted the issuance of the All India Tourist Permit to a fully digital platform. Applicants will now submit their requests through the official transport portal, eliminating the need for physical paperwork and in‑person visits to government offices.
The minister highlighted that the online system is designed to streamline the application process, reduce processing time, and remove layers of bureaucratic delay that previously hindered tourists and travel agencies. By centralising the service on a single portal, the government aims to improve transparency and accessibility for users across the country.
Officials from the Ministry of Transport indicated that the portal will be operational from the coming week, with guidelines and support available for first‑time users. The move aligns with broader digital‑government initiatives aimed at simplifying citizen services.
Travel operators and prospective tourists have welcomed the development, noting that an online permit can be obtained faster and with fewer hurdles, potentially boosting domestic tourism.
The ministry plans to monitor the system’s performance closely and will consider further enhancements based on user feedback.
