Activist Akhil Gogoi highlighted that 48 days have passed without adequate assistance for flood‑hit residents of Assam, demanding faster relief.

On a recent day in Assam, activist Akhil Gogoi staged a protest to draw attention to the prolonged delay in delivering relief to families affected by the state’s floods.
Gogoi noted that more than 48 days have elapsed since the waters inundated large parts of the region, yet many victims are still awaiting essential food, medical aid and temporary shelter.
The demonstration reflects growing frustration among local communities and civil‑society groups, who accuse the state and central governments of missing promised timelines for assistance.
Gogoi urged the Assam government and relevant agencies to expedite the distribution of food packets, clean water and emergency housing, warning that continued inaction could worsen health and livelihood risks.
Officials have not yet issued a formal response, and relief operations remain under scrutiny as the monsoon season continues.
