Environmental activist Akhil Gogoi has announced an indefinite protest in Assam demanding the release of pending flood relief funds.
Akhil Gogoi, the veteran activist and leader of the Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti, announced a decision to launch an indefinite agitation across Assam to press the state government for the speedy release of pending flood‑relief assistance.
The protest seeks to highlight the prolonged delay in disbursing funds to families still reeling from the monsoon floods that battered the state earlier this year, many of whom have yet to receive any government aid.
Gogoi urged his supporters to block key roads and organise rallies until the authorities meet the relief demands, warning that continued inaction threatens the livelihoods of vulnerable communities.
State officials have not issued an official response so far, and the agitation adds political pressure on the Assam administration ahead of upcoming local elections.
