Community leaders in Amritsar have announced continuous Akhand Path recitations and prayers on August 27 and 29, aiming to secure the release of Sikh detainees.
Amritsar will host two days of uninterrupted Akhand Path, the continuous reading of the Guru Granth Sahib, on August 27 and 29. The religious observance is being organized by local Sikh community groups to pray for the release of Sikhs currently held in detention.
Organisers said the sessions will begin early on the specified dates and will involve volunteers reciting the holy scripture without pause, accompanied by collective prayers (Ardas) from the congregation. The initiative reflects longstanding community concerns over the status of Sikh prisoners and aims to draw public attention to their plight.
Authorities have not issued an official comment on the planned gatherings, but the events are expected to attract a sizable gathering of devotees and supporters from across the region.
