With voter registration still pending, breakaway factions of the Akali Dal are intensifying their outreach ahead of Punjab's upcoming polls.

The deadline for voter registration in Punjab remains unfilled, leaving a significant number of eligible voters without official enrollment as the state prepares for the next legislative assembly election. Election officials have warned that incomplete registration could affect turnout and the overall legitimacy of the poll process.

In response, several offshoots of the historic Akali Dal have stepped up their ground-level activities. Party cadres are organising door‑to‑door visits, holding small public meetings and distributing informational pamphlets to encourage eligible citizens to complete their registration before the final cut‑off.

Analysts note that the renewed push by these splinter groups could reshape the electoral dynamics in Punjab, especially in constituencies where the Akali brand traditionally enjoys strong support. The heightened mobilisation aims to secure a broader voter base for the factions ahead of the contested election dates.
