Ajmer Ward Row: BJP Candidate’s ASI Husband Gets Leave, Congress Candidate’s Husband Suspended

Congress alleges that the husband of its Ajmer ward candidate, ASI Harphool Meena, was denied leave and later suspended, while the husband of the rival BJP candidate received leave during the election.
Ajmer’s municipal ward election has become a flashpoint after two rival candidates raised concerns over the treatment of their spouses, both serving as Assistant Sub‑Inspectors (ASI) in the police force.
The Congress candidate, Meenakshi Meena, claims that her husband, ASI Harphool Meena, was not granted any official leave during the campaigning period and was subsequently suspended from duty.
In contrast, the husband of the BJP contender received a standard leave sanction, allowing him to be absent from police duties while the election was underway.
Congress officials say the disparity points to partisan bias in the administration of police leave, a matter they have taken to the local election authority.
Election officials have not yet issued a formal response, and the issue remains under observation as the polling date approaches.
