Bollywood star Ajay Devgn has approached the High Court to contest an FDA notice that questioned the claims made in Vimal Elaichi advertisements.

Mumbai-based actor Ajay Devgn has moved the High Court seeking relief from a notice issued by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) over the Vimal Elaichi advertising campaign. The petition, filed through his legal counsel, argues that the regulatory notice unfairly targets the star’s endorsement and seeks a stay on any further action.

The FDA notice, circulated earlier this month, alleged that the Vimal Elaichi ads made unsubstantiated health claims about the product’s benefits. Officials said the promotional material could mislead consumers about the spice’s therapeutic properties, prompting the agency to issue a warning to the brand and its endorsers.

Devgn’s team contends that the advertisements comply with existing guidelines and that the notice infringes on the actor’s right to endorse lawful products. They have requested the court to quash the notice and allow the campaign to continue without interruption.

The matter is now before the court, and a decision is awaited. Neither the FDA nor Vimal Elaichi has provided further comment, while industry observers note that the case could set a precedent for celebrity endorsements in the Indian advertising sector.
