Bhilwara’s air‑quality index crossed the 300 mark on Saturday morning, while Jaipur, Alwar and Bikaner recorded hazardous levels between 200 and 300 as Diwali approaches.
The Rajasthan state pollution monitor reported that Bhilwara’s Air Quality Index (AQI) rose above 300 on Saturday morning, indicating a hazardous level of air pollution. The spike comes just days before the Diwali celebrations, a period traditionally associated with increased firecracker usage and further strain on air quality.
In addition to Bhilwara, the capital city Jaipur, as well as Alwar and Bikaner, recorded AQI values ranging from 200 to 300, placing them in the very unhealthy to hazardous category. These readings suggest that large parts of the state are experiencing poor air conditions ahead of the festival.
Authorities have warned residents to limit outdoor activities, especially for vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly and those with respiratory ailments. The data was sourced from the state’s pollution monitoring network and reported by Amar Ujala.
No immediate remedial measures have been announced, but health advisories are expected to be issued as the situation develops.
