AIR Aizawl Celebrates 60 Years, Home Minister Praises Its Role in Preserving Mizo Culture

The All India Radio (AIR) station in Aizawl celebrated its 60th anniversary on Thursday, with a ceremony held at the station’s premises in the capital of Mizoram. The event was attended by the state’s Home Minister, who highlighted the station’s contribution to promoting the Mizo language and preserving local traditions. "AIR Aizawl has been a guardian of our culture for six decades," the minister said, adding that the broadcaster continues to play a vital role in community outreach. The station, which began operations in the early 1960s, has expanded its programming to include news, music, and educational content tailored to the region’s diverse linguistic groups. Looking ahead, the ministry plans to support the station’s digital initiatives to reach younger audiences and strengthen regional media infrastructure.
