A counterfeit liquor operation, designed with artificial intelligence, led to more than ten fatalities in Dewas, Madhya Pradesh, and has resulted in the arrest of the alleged mastermind, 27‑year‑old Ajay Rathore.

Police in Dewas, Madhya Pradesh, have confirmed that a batch of illicit liquor laced with toxic substances caused the deaths of over ten people. Investigators traced the operation to a 27‑year‑old man identified as Ajay Rathore, who allegedly used artificial‑intelligence tools to formulate a counterfeit spirit that mimicked genuine alcohol.

According to the FIR, Rathore had already assembled a distribution network by recruiting contract workers to sell the fake liquor before the first batch was even produced. The network was intended to move the product quickly across local markets, maximizing profit while bypassing regulatory checks.

The investigation uncovered evidence of the AI‑generated recipe, packaging materials, and financial transactions linking the accused to the supply chain. Authorities have seized the remaining stock, detained several low‑level operatives, and are continuing to question witnesses to determine the full extent of the conspiracy.

The incident has reignited concerns about the misuse of emerging technologies in illicit activities and prompted calls for stricter monitoring of AI applications in the food and beverage sector.
