A married pair from Agra duped a hotel employee and his colleagues in Sikar, Rajasthan, by promising government posts, extracting ₹14 million before fleeing.
A couple residing in Agra presented themselves as officials connected to the Delhi Police and the postal department, claiming they could secure government positions for a hotel employee in Sikar district, Rajasthan. Convincing the employee and his associates that they could facilitate recruitment, they asked for a total of ₹14 lakh as processing fees.
The victims handed over the money after the couple produced forged documents and promised to verify their credentials. When the verification stage arrived, the duo claimed further paperwork was required and used the pretext to disappear, leaving the victims without any job or refund.
Rajasthan police have opened an investigation into the fraud, tracing the couple's movements through CCTV footage and bank records. Authorities are urging anyone with additional information to come forward, while the hotel employee hopes to recover the lost amount through legal channels.
