Aghor Akhada chief Vishnu Nath Khadyeshwari clarifies no corpse‑handling in Sanatan or Aghor rites

Madhya Pradesh – Vishnu Nath Khadyeshwari Maharaj, who heads the Aghor Akhada at the national level, publicly refuted claims that the sect engages in any ritual involving dead bodies. He asserted that neither the ancient Sanatan Dharma nor the Aghor tradition contains provisions for handling, breaking, or desecrating a corpse.
The leader emphasized that the core tenets of Aghor sadhana focus on spiritual purification and renunciation, not on acts such as cannibalism or corpse manipulation. He cited scriptural references to underline that such practices are antithetical to both the philosophical and practical aspects of the path.
Khadeshwari warned that sensational reports can damage the reputation of the community and urged media and the public to rely on authentic sources. He reiterated that any alleged incidents of corpse‑related rites are unfounded and contrary to the teachings he upholds.
The statement comes amid heightened scrutiny of religious practices in the state, prompting the Akhada to reaffirm its commitment to lawful and ethical conduct.
