Activist Abhijeet Dipke of the Cockroach Janta Party alleges that Delhi police denied him access to his phone and lawyers, and compelled him to sign arrest documents even after learning of his grandmother’s death.

Activist Abhijeet Dipke, a member of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), has lodged a formal complaint accusing Delhi police of procedural violations during his recent detention. He says the police informed him of his grandmother’s death and then insisted he sign the arrest paperwork without allowing him to consult a lawyer.

According to Dipke, officers confiscated his mobile phone and barred him from contacting his legal counsel. He also alleges that he was instructed to call his parents at an odd hour to convey the arrest details, a move he describes as intimidation.

Delhi Police, in a statement, acknowledged that they informed Dipke about his grandmother’s passing and offered assistance, but denied any wrongdoing. The department maintains that all standard protocols were followed during the arrest.

The incident has sparked a debate over custodial rights and police conduct in the capital, with human‑rights groups urging a transparent inquiry.
