A loan and interest dispute in East Champaran led to an alleged acid attack inside a residence, leaving a woman, her husband and their three children severely burned and receiving treatment at SKMCH.

Authorities in East Champaran, Bihar, have registered a case of an alleged acid attack after a dispute over a loan and its interest turned violent. According to police, the accused entered the victims' house and sprayed acid, causing severe burns.

The victims include a woman, her husband and their three children, all of whom suffered extensive injuries. They were immediately rushed to Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SKMCH) where they remain under intensive care.

Police officials said the motive appears linked to a financial disagreement, though the identity of the alleged perpetrator has not been disclosed. Investigators are collecting forensic evidence and have begun questioning neighbours and relatives.

The incident adds to concerns over rising cases of domestic acid attacks in the region, prompting calls for stricter enforcement of existing anti‑acid‑attack laws.
