A man accused of assaulting and killing a Manipuri musician said he acted to 'teach a lesson'. Police are investigating the case in Manipur.

Earlier this week, a musician from Manipur was assaulted and later died at a hospital in Imphal. Police say the victim was attacked with a blunt object and sustained fatal injuries. The incident has shocked the local music community.

The accused, who was arrested at the scene, told investigators that he had acted to "teach a lesson" to the victim. He claimed the musician had insulted him, prompting the assault.

Manipur Police have filed a case under the Indian Penal Code for murder and are conducting a forensic investigation. The accused is being held in custody pending trial.
