Student organization ABVP staged a protest during the Kerala School Sports Meet, demanding the resignation of Sports Minister P. R. Samsudheen over alleged irregularities.

The Kerala School Sports Meet, a statewide event showcasing young athletes, turned into a political flashpoint on Saturday when members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) entered the venue with placards and slogans. The student group accused Sports Minister P. R. Samsudheen of mismanagement and called for his immediate resignation, alleging that the ministry failed to address concerns raised by schools regarding the meet's organization.

ABVP activists gathered near the main arena, chanting slogans and demanding a public inquiry into the alleged irregularities. The protest disrupted the scheduled competitions for a brief period before security personnel escorted the demonstrators out of the premises. Officials from the Sports Department issued a statement saying the meet would continue as planned and that any grievances would be examined through appropriate channels.

The incident has sparked debate over the politicisation of school-level sports events. While the ABVP framed its action as a stand for transparency and accountability, critics argue that such protests could undermine the morale of young athletes participating in the meet.

The Sports Ministry has not yet responded publicly to the ABVP's demands, and the matter is expected to be discussed in the upcoming session of the state assembly.
