The Aam Aadmi Party has alleged that the ruling BJP government in Delhi is planning a ₹22,000‑crore rice scam. The claim has sparked a political controversy in the capital.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) today accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Delhi of orchestrating a ₹22,000‑crore rice scam. According to AAP officials, the plan involves diverting state‑supplied rice to private entities for profit, with the proceeds allegedly funneled back to the ruling party’s coffers. The party’s spokesperson cited internal documents and whistle‑blower testimony as evidence of the scheme.

The alleged scam would exploit the state’s subsidised rice distribution system, which is meant to provide affordable food grains to low‑income families. AAP claims that the BJP administration has been manipulating procurement contracts to favour a handful of suppliers linked to party insiders.

BJP representatives have denied the allegations, calling them politically motivated and lacking concrete proof. The Delhi Chief Minister’s office has issued a statement urging the public to rely on official investigations before drawing conclusions.

The accusation has intensified the already tense political climate in the capital, with opposition parties demanding a transparent inquiry. Analysts suggest that the claim could influence upcoming local elections and heighten scrutiny of the government’s procurement processes.
