The 9.76‑km, six‑lane Kachchi Dargah‑Bidupur cable‑stayed bridge over the Ganga, costing about Rs 5,000 crore, is nearing completion and will boost Patna‑North Bihar connectivity.
A massive cable‑stayed bridge spanning 9.76 kilometres across the Ganga River is close to being operational. The structure, built on 67 reinforced concrete pillars, will carry six lanes of traffic between Kachchi Dargah and Bidupur, linking Patna with the northern districts of Bihar.
The project, estimated at roughly Rs 5,000 crore, is part of the state government's push to improve regional infrastructure and reduce travel bottlenecks. Once opened, the bridge is expected to cut journey times significantly, offering a faster alternative to existing river crossings.
Officials say the bridge will not only ease commuter movement but also stimulate trade and economic activity in the northern belt, where connectivity has long been a challenge. Completion is slated for the near future, pending final safety inspections.
