In Bhavrani village of Jalore district, 90-year-old Dargaram Prajapat died about 90 minutes after his 91-year-old wife Puni Devi, ending a 64‑year marriage.
Veteran residents of Bhavrani, a small village in Rajasthan's Jalore district, witnessed the passing of a long‑standing couple within a short span. Puni Devi, aged 91, died first, and approximately ninety minutes later her husband, Dargaram Prajapat, aged 90, succumbed to natural causes.
The couple had shared 64 years, 4 months and 26 days of married life, a milestone that local elders described as a testament to enduring companionship. Neighbours said both were in frail health, and the rapid succession of their deaths left the community in quiet shock.
Village officials confirmed that the deaths were recorded as natural and that no foul play was involved. Funeral rites for the duo are being organized together, reflecting the deep bond they maintained until the very end.
The incident has drawn attention to the challenges faced by elderly citizens in rural Rajasthan, where limited medical facilities often mean that health crises are managed at home.
Authorities have urged families in similar situations to seek timely medical assistance and to consider regular health check‑ups for senior members.
