Around 820 students took part in turban‑tying competitions held during the Gurmat Prachar Samagam in Amritsar.
Amritsar hosted a Gurmat Prachar Samagam where more than eight hundred students gathered to showcase their turban‑tying skills. The event, organized by local Sikh religious bodies, featured a series of competitive rounds that tested participants' speed and precision in tying the traditional dastar.
Officials said the competition aimed to promote Sikh heritage among youth and encourage mastery of a key cultural practice. Judges evaluated each contestant on criteria such as neatness, adherence to traditional styles, and time taken to complete the knot.
The large turnout reflects growing interest in preserving religious customs within the younger generation, and organizers plan to make the turban‑tying contest a regular feature of future Gurmat gatherings.
