A rare coral fossil dating back 65 million years was discovered in Dindori district of Madhya Pradesh and has been safeguarded by the local Baiga tribe for generations. Fieldwork and laboratory tests carried out by the state's archaeology department confirmed its age and significance, revealing a piece of Earth’s ancient marine past. The Baiga people, who have long revered the stone, recognised its value long before modern science did, ensuring its preservation.
