A state survey finds 611 Rajasthan government schools without any building, while 2,047 lack toilets and 1,049 have no drinking‑water supply.
A recent survey of Rajasthan's public schools revealed that 611 government schools operate without any permanent structure, leaving students to attend classes in makeshift settings. In addition, the same assessment highlighted that 2,047 schools do not have functional toilet facilities and 1,049 lack a reliable source of drinking water for pupils and staff.
The Rajasthan government has responded by earmarking a massive Rs 12,335 crore package aimed at renovating dilapidated schools across the state. The plan includes constructing new classrooms, installing sanitation units and ensuring safe water supply in the identified deficit schools.
Education officials said the funding will be rolled out in phases, prioritising the most underserved institutions. The initiative seeks to bring basic infrastructure in line with national standards and improve learning conditions for millions of children in the state.
