60 Boatmen and Divers Trained in Narmada Rescue Techniques in Omkareshwar

The district administration of Omkareshwar organized a five‑day training camp aimed at curbing drowning incidents in the Narmada River. Around 60 participants, including local boat operators, swimmers and scuba divers, attended the program. Expert instructors demonstrated contemporary rescue techniques such as swift water entry, rope‑based retrieval and use of inflatable rescue devices. Trainees also practiced simulated rescue drills under controlled river conditions to build confidence and coordination. Officials said the initiative is part of a broader safety drive to reduce river‑related fatalities in the region.
