The government plans to launch 50 air‑conditioned buses linking Delhi and Bihar before the Chhath festival, pending the Lieutenant Governor’s nod.

The state transport department has announced a proposal to introduce fifty air‑conditioned buses that will run between Delhi and key destinations in Bihar ahead of the upcoming Chhath Puja. The service is intended to provide a comfortable and faster alternative to existing travel options, especially for pilgrims traveling to the holy sites in Bihar.

According to officials, the fleet will be deployed in phases, with the first batch expected to start operations a few weeks before Chhath. The buses will be equipped with modern amenities, including Wi‑Fi and onboard sanitation facilities, to meet the expectations of long‑distance travelers.

The launch, however, is pending formal approval from the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi. Authorities have said that once the nod is received, the timetable will be finalized and tickets will be made available through the transport department’s online portal.

If approved, the initiative could ease congestion on rail routes and reduce travel time for thousands of devotees heading to Bihar for the festival, marking a significant step in inter‑state connectivity.
