Heavy rains have triggered severe flooding in Nepal, leaving 37 tourists from Tamil Nadu and 32 from West Bengal among the missing.
Heavy rainfall across Nepal this week has caused flash floods and landslides in several hill districts, disrupting roads and isolating remote villages. The deluge has also swept away campsites frequented by foreign and Indian tourists.
According to Nepalese authorities, 37 tourists from Tamil Nadu and 32 from West Bengal are among the 69 missing persons reported so far. Rescue teams, aided by the Indian embassy in Kathmandu, are combing the affected valleys and riverbanks for survivors.
