After a 35‑year legal battle, authorities in Nishatpura, Bhopal cleared illegal encroachments on a plot valued at about ₹20 crore, restoring ownership to 65‑year‑old Upasana Jauhari.
The Bhopal administration announced on Monday that a long‑standing land dispute in the Nishatpura area has been settled. The contested parcel, estimated at roughly ₹20 crore, was declared free of illegal occupation following a court‑ordered eviction.
The case, which began more than three decades ago, centered on the ownership claim of 65‑year‑old Upasana Jauhari. She had repeatedly petitioned local authorities to restore her rights after the land was allegedly seized by encroachers.
District officials said that the eviction drive was carried out in coordination with the police and revenue officers, and that all structures identified as illegal were demolished. The administration confirmed that the land now legally belongs to Ms. Jauhari, ending the protracted dispute.
Local residents expressed relief that the matter was finally resolved, noting that the decision could set a precedent for similar cases across Madhya Pradesh.
The government has not disclosed any compensation to the displaced occupants, focusing instead on reinstating the rightful ownership.
