Maihar, Madhya Pradesh – On the occasion of Gaurav Diwas, a massive gathering of 3,430 students from different schools assembled on a football ground to present a coordinated Kathak performance. The coordinated effort, lasting several minutes, was executed without breaks, showcasing uniform steps and rhythm across the large crowd.
The event was organized by local education authorities in collaboration with cultural groups to promote classical dance among youth. Officials said the sheer number of participants performing the same choreography simultaneously qualified the performance for entry into the Asia Book of Records.
Representatives from the record‑keeping body verified the attempt on site, confirming that the performance met all criteria for a collective Kathak record. The achievement highlights the growing interest in traditional arts within school curricula and aims to inspire similar cultural initiatives across the state.
