334 Monitoring Teams and 78 Night Patrols Deployed in Delhi to Combat Winter Pollution

Ahead of the winter haze, Delhi authorities have mobilised 334 monitoring squads and 78 night‑time units to intensify pollution checks across the city.
Delhi's environmental officials have launched a large‑scale ground operation to curb air‑quality deterioration before the winter season sets in. A total of 334 monitoring teams have been dispatched to key hotspots, equipped to measure particulate matter and other pollutants in real time.
In addition to daytime surveillance, 78 dedicated squads will conduct inspections during night hours, when temperature inversions often trap pollutants close to the ground. These night patrols aim to identify illegal emissions from industrial units, construction sites and vehicular sources that tend to operate after dusk.
The deployment is coordinated by the Delhi Pollution Control Board and aligns with the city's pre‑emptive strategy to keep the Air Quality Index within safe limits. Officials expect the intensified checks to deter violations and provide data for timely corrective actions.
Residents have been advised to cooperate with field officers and report any visible smoke or foul odours. The authorities have also warned that non‑compliance could attract penalties under existing environmental regulations.
