After eating the mid‑day meal at Poonia Deoria government school in Kota, 27 pupils experienced vomiting, diarrhoea, stomach pain and dizziness, with 14 taken to hospitals and several admitted.

Recent reports from Kota, Rajasthan, indicate that a large number of students at the Poonia Deoria government school fell ill shortly after consuming the school’s mid‑day meal. Health officials said that 27 children complained of gastrointestinal symptoms and dizziness within a short period after the meal.

The affected pupils exhibited vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal pain and a feeling of light‑headedness. Out of the 27, fourteen were rushed to nearby hospitals for further evaluation, while four to five children have been admitted for observation and treatment.

Local health authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the outbreak, examining the food preparation process, supply chain and hygiene standards at the school kitchen. The school administration has been instructed to cooperate fully with the probe and to suspend the mid‑day meal service until safety can be assured.

Parents have been urged to monitor their children for any lingering symptoms and to seek medical care if conditions worsen. The incident underscores the importance of stringent food safety measures in government‑run school feeding programs.
