In the rain, 250 government schoolchildren in Mirzapur staged a protest demanding better road conditions, citing the narrow 1.5‑ft width of the local road.

On a rainy afternoon in Mirzapur, 250 students from local government schools gathered to demand an improvement in the narrow road that serves their community. The protest was organized to highlight the safety concerns posed by the 1.5‑foot width of the road, which the students claim hampers their daily commute.

The demonstrators, dressed in school uniforms, marched in a disciplined manner, holding placards that read ‘Safe Roads for Students’. Their main demand is for the widening of the road to accommodate both pedestrians and vehicles safely.

Local authorities, including the municipal council and the district education officer, were present at the protest site. While they acknowledged the students’ concerns, officials stated that a feasibility study would be conducted before any construction work could begin.

The students have pledged to continue their peaceful protest until their demands are met. Parents and community members have expressed support for the initiative, hoping for a swift resolution to the road safety issue.
