A 23-year-old Delhi University PhD scholar jumped from the 27th floor of Tower C‑4 in Prateek Grand City Society, Vijayanagar, Ghaziabad, ending his life.

Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh – Police from the Vijayanagar police station confirmed that a 23-year-old male, identified as a PhD candidate at Delhi University, died after leaping from the 27th floor of Tower C‑4 in the Prateek Grand City Society complex. The incident occurred on the premises of the residential tower located in the Vijayanagar area of the city.

According to the investigation team, the victim was alone at the time of the fall and no signs of foul play were observed at the scene. Preliminary inquiries suggest that the act was self‑inflicted, and the police have opened a case under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code dealing with suicide.

Family members have been notified, and a formal statement regarding the circumstances leading to the tragedy has not yet been released. The local authorities have urged residents to cooperate with the investigation and have offered counseling services to those affected by the incident.

The incident adds to a growing concern over mental health pressures among students, especially those pursuing advanced degrees. Officials from Delhi University have been approached for comment on the support mechanisms available to their postgraduate scholars.
