21 Agreements Inked to Expand UDAN Regional Air Links in Nagaland

A ceremony attended by state officials marked the signing of 21 agreements aimed at strengthening regional air connectivity under the UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik) scheme. The pacts were concluded with various airline operators and aviation stakeholders to facilitate the launch of new flight routes within Nagaland and to neighboring states.\n\nThe UDAN programme, launched by the central government, seeks to make air travel affordable and accessible by subsidising short‑haul routes on thin traffic corridors. By expanding the network in Nagaland, the government hopes to link remote districts with major hubs, thereby encouraging tourism, trade and investment in the region.\n\nOfficials said the agreements will pave the way for additional daily flights, improve airport infrastructure, and create employment opportunities in aviation services. The move is also expected to reduce travel time for residents who currently rely on lengthy road journeys to reach the nearest airports.\n\nImplementation will be coordinated between the state transport department, the Airports Authority of India and the participating airlines, with operational details to be finalised in the coming weeks.
