More than 20 hours of relentless rain drenched Lucknow and spread to about half of Uttar Pradesh, prompting waterlogging and disruptions across the region.

Lucknow experienced an uninterrupted spell of rain lasting over 20 hours, with meteorological officials confirming that the deluge extended to roughly fifty percent of Uttar Pradesh's districts. The prolonged downpour saturated roads, low‑lying areas and urban drainage systems, leading to widespread waterlogging in residential neighbourhoods and commercial corridors.

State disaster management teams were mobilised as several localities reported flooded streets and temporary disruption of electricity supply. Police and municipal workers deployed sandbags and portable pumps to clear critical junctions, while school authorities kept institutions closed in the most affected zones.

Transport services faced significant delays; city buses and inter‑city trains were either cancelled or operated on reduced schedules. Residents were advised to avoid non‑essential travel and to stay alert for sudden water‑level rises in small streams that feed larger rivers.

The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister's office issued a public advisory urging citizens to cooperate with relief crews, refrain from entering inundated areas, and report any emergencies through the state helpline.
