Nineteen migrant workers from West Bengal's Murshidabad district, who were detained in Chhattisgarh on suspicion of being Bangladeshi nationals, have been released after verification.

Nineteen migrant workers hailing from West Bengal's Murshidabad district were released in Chhattisgarh after being held on suspicion of being Bangladeshi nationals. The workers had been detained by local authorities amid concerns over their identity and citizenship status.

Following verification procedures, officials confirmed that the individuals were Indian citizens from Murshidabad who had travelled to Chhattisgarh in search of work. The suspicions arose due to their place of origin near the India-Bangladesh border, which often leads to heightened scrutiny of migrant labourers.

The release of the workers highlights the challenges faced by migrants from border districts, who frequently come under suspicion despite holding valid Indian documentation. The group has since been allowed to proceed with their employment activities in the state.
