Police in Jhalawar district uncovered a forced child‑marriage and human‑trafficking case where a 17‑year‑old girl was sold for ₹4 lakh. The girl's father, maternal uncle and husband have been taken into custody.

In the Bhawanimandi police‑station area of Jhalawar district, Rajasthan, investigators discovered that a 17‑year‑old girl was transferred to a marriage arrangement for a sum of four lakh rupees. The transaction was documented on a stamp paper that contained clauses described as inhuman, effectively turning the agreement into a mortgage over the minor.

The police arrested three individuals directly involved in the deal: the girl's biological father, her maternal uncle and her husband, who had facilitated the forced marriage. All three were detained on charges of child marriage, human trafficking and related offenses.

Authorities said the case highlights the persistence of illegal child‑marriage practices in parts of Rajasthan despite existing legal safeguards. The investigation remains ongoing, and the girl has been placed under the protection of child welfare services while the legal process proceeds.
