Police have filed a case against 17 aspirants in Rajasthan’s Barmer district for submitting forged certificates to obtain bonus points in the 2022 Border Guard Defence recruitment.

Barmer district police in Rajasthan have registered a criminal case against seventeen candidates who allegedly submitted forged certificates to secure bonus marks in the 2022 Border Guard Defence (BSF) recruitment drive. The alleged fraud was uncovered during the verification of documents submitted by applicants seeking entry into the paramilitary force.

According to the FIR, the candidates used counterfeit educational and service records to claim additional points that are awarded under the BSF's merit‑based selection system. The bonus points scheme, intended for genuine achievements such as sports excellence or prior service, was manipulated to improve the aspirants' ranking on the final merit list.

Investigators have seized the falsified documents and forwarded them to the forensic lab for verification. The accused now face charges of cheating, forgery and criminal conspiracy under the Indian Penal Code. If convicted, they could be liable for imprisonment and fines, and will be barred from future recruitment in the force.

The Border Guard Defence has reiterated its commitment to a transparent recruitment process and urged candidates to provide authentic documentation. The department has also announced a review of its verification procedures to prevent similar incidents.

The case remains under investigation, and further legal action will depend on the outcome of forensic analysis and court proceedings.
