A 16-year-old boy, Mohammed Sameer, died after being shot during a reported Varchasva fight in the Tegda area of Begusarai on Tuesday night.

Begusarai district police said a 16-year-old resident, Mohammed Sameer, was shot dead late on Tuesday night in the Tegda police‑station jurisdiction. The incident occurred amid a reported clash between rival groups allegedly vying for local dominance, commonly referred to as a "Varchasva" fight.

According to officials, the confrontation escalated on a public road, and gunfire was exchanged, resulting in Sameer's fatal injury. Emergency services arrived promptly, but the teenager succumbed to his wounds at the scene.

Local authorities have launched an investigation, registering a murder case and seeking witnesses to identify the shooter(s). The police have also increased patrols in the area to prevent further violence.

Family members of the deceased gathered at the site shortly after the incident, expressing grief and demanding swift justice. No further casualties were reported.
