A 16‑year‑old boy from Chhatarpur died when the ambulance transporting him to Bhopal ran out of oxygen near Vidisha, officials said.

A 16‑year‑old student, Bharat Ahirwar from Chhatarpur, was being taken to a hospital in Bhopal when the ambulance he was in ran out of oxygen near Vidisha, Madhya Pradesh. The incident was reported by local authorities and medical staff at Vidisha Medical College.
The teenager had reportedly consumed a toxic substance about a month earlier, but his condition had stabilised before the ambulance journey began.
When the oxygen supply in the ambulance depleted, the boy suffered respiratory failure. Doctors at Vidisha Medical College examined him and declared him dead on the spot.
The police handed the body over to his family, and an inquiry has been launched to determine why the ambulance’s oxygen cylinder was empty during the emergency transport.
