A boat carrying school‑age children capsized on a river in Raghopur, a segment of Tejashwi Yadav's assembly constituency in Bihar, resulting in the death of 13 youngsters. Rescue teams reached the site within hours, but the loss of life could not be averted.
Local police have seized the boat involved in the accident and launched an inquiry into safety violations. In the meantime, residents have resorted to crossing the river using a makeshift rope bridge, highlighting the lack of reliable transport infrastructure in the area.
The tragedy has drawn attention to the broader neglect of basic amenities in parts of the constituency, where large‑scale government projects dominate the agenda while everyday mobility remains a challenge for villagers.
