Areas within a 1.5 km radius of twelve Rapid Rail Transit System stations in Gurugram have been officially designated as Transit‑Oriented Development zones, aiming to boost mixed‑use growth around the network.
The Haryana government has granted Transit‑Oriented Development (TOD) status to the catchment areas extending up to 1.5 kilometres from each of the twelve Gurugram stations on the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS). The move is intended to encourage higher‑density, mixed‑use projects that integrate residential, commercial and recreational spaces with the rail network, thereby reducing reliance on private vehicles.
Under the TOD framework, developers will be required to adhere to stricter floor‑area ratios, provide public amenities and ensure seamless pedestrian connectivity to the stations. The policy also promises faster approval processes for projects that meet the stipulated criteria.
Officials said the designation aligns with the broader goal of creating sustainable urban corridors in the National Capital Region. It is expected to attract investment, generate jobs and improve last‑mile connectivity for commuters using the RRTS.
