A Class‑11 student died in a road collision in Anupur, Madhya Pradesh, after which locals placed the body on the highway and performed a ritual for over three hours. Police are probing the involvement of the two vehicles.

Anupur in Rajnagar police jurisdiction of Madhya Pradesh reported a tragic road accident on which a 11th‑grade student, identified as Lallit Kevat, lost his life while on his way to school. The incident involved two vehicles, the exact circumstances of which are being examined by local police.
According to eyewitnesses, after the collision the deceased’s body was taken to the nearby highway where villagers gathered and performed a traditional chakkajam ceremony that lasted approximately three and a half hours. The ritual, commonly observed in some rural communities, involved continuous chanting and offerings around the body.
Authorities have opened an investigation to determine the role of each vehicle in the crash and to assess any possible negligence. Police officials have appealed for calm and have urged anyone with further information to come forward.
The incident has sparked concern among local residents about road safety and the handling of accident victims in the region.
