A 106‑kilometre pipeline from Surajpura to Balawala is being planned to meet Jaipur’s rising drinking‑water demand, with a DPR for the Rs 2,228‑crore scheme already sent to senior officials.
The Rajasthan government has drafted a detailed project report for a new 106‑kilometre water pipeline that will run between Surajpura and Balawala, aimed at relieving the capital’s chronic water‑supply shortfall. The scheme, estimated at Rs 2,228 crore, seeks to address both the rising demand for potable water and the persistent low‑pressure problems that have plagued Jaipur’s distribution network.
Officials say the pipeline will tap additional groundwater sources and improve conveyance efficiency, thereby increasing the volume of water that reaches households across the city. The DPR, which outlines technical specifications, cost estimates and implementation timelines, has been forwarded to senior state officials for clearance.
If approved, the project is expected to commence construction within the next financial year, with the government planning to monitor progress closely to ensure timely completion.
The initiative forms part of a broader effort by the state to upgrade urban infrastructure and secure reliable water supplies for its growing population.
