100‑Foot Erosion Threatens Dam in Beli Village, Ludhiana

Officials in Ludhiana district have reported that a deepening ravine in Beli village has eroded roughly 100 feet, exposing the embankment of a local dam. The rapid soil loss has heightened fears that the structure could fail if the erosion continues unchecked. Engineers from the Punjab Water Resources Department have been dispatched to assess the stability of the dam and to recommend immediate remedial measures. Residents in the vicinity have been warned to stay alert and to cooperate with any evacuation orders that may be issued. The department plans to monitor the site continuously and to mobilise sandbags and reinforcement works to prevent a catastrophic breach.
