10 family members in Ujjain receive rabies shots after dog bite and cow death

Following a dog bite that led to a cow’s death, ten members of a family in Ujjain were administered rabies prophylaxis at a local hospital.
A dog bite in Ujjain resulted in the death of a cow whose milk had been consumed by a local family. After the incident, ten members of the household sought medical attention at a nearby hospital.
Doctors, noting the high risk of rabies transmission, administered prophylactic rabies injections to all ten individuals – Vishnulal, Tarachand, Harishankar, Shantabai, Sandhya, Shivam, Sumit, Bhavishya, Sangeeta and Hansabai.
The medical team emphasized that prompt post‑exposure prophylaxis is essential to prevent rabies, a fatal viral disease that can be transmitted through animal bites. The patients were observed for any adverse reactions and advised to complete the full vaccination schedule.
