Chief Minister Pushkar Dhami has approved a fund of Rs 328.278 crore for Uttarakhand's urban local bodies and announced employment for two former Agniveers under the scheme.
The Uttarakhand government, led by Chief Minister Pushkar Dhami, gave the green light to allocate Rs 328.278 crore to the state's urban local bodies. The funding is earmarked for infrastructure upgrades, sanitation projects and other civic improvements across municipal areas.
In addition to the capital infusion, the CM announced that two former Agniveers – soldiers who completed their short-term service – will be appointed to positions within the urban administration. This move aligns with the government's broader effort to integrate ex‑servicemen into civilian roles.
The allocation is expected to boost local employment and accelerate development works in towns such as Dehradun, Haridwar and Nainital. Officials said the disbursement will be phased over the next financial year, subject to standard audit procedures.
Stakeholders, including municipal officials and veteran groups, welcomed the decision, noting that it addresses both infrastructure gaps and the reintegration of Agniveers into the workforce.
