Snowfall Blankets East Sikkim, Transforming Region into Winter Wonderland

A sudden bout of snowfall has draped the eastern districts of Sikkim in a thick white blanket, turning the area into a picturesque winter scene. The snow accumulated on rooftops, pine trees and winding mountain roads, creating a visual spectacle that has been shared widely on social media. Local residents reported that the snowfall, while beautiful, disrupted daily commutes as several rural lanes became slippery and difficult to navigate. Authorities have issued advisories for drivers to exercise caution and have deployed additional personnel to clear key routes. The unexpected weather has also attracted trekkers and photographers, who are flocking to the region to capture the rare snow‑covered landscape of the typically temperate state.
